Summer Time!

Us Walkers have been enjoying our summer so far. Our local July 4th fireworks were great as always. Sophie entertained the crowd by cheering each and every firework and announcing that “a pretty one is coming next” every few minutes. Evan seemed to enjoy being up past his bed time and appeared pretty neutral about the festivities around him. Back in June we spent Father’s day weekend in Frisco eating BBQ for the third straight year with some good friends. We have posted some photos from Frisco as well as from our visit from Barry and Zach and other summer fun on our Flickr page. Enjoy!

Evan is now 5 weeks old and doing great- eating lots and growing like a weed! Sophie is enjoying being a big sister and likes to hold Evan often- as long as he is not crying!

And then there were 4…Announcing Evan Murray Walker!!

We welcomed Evan at 5:30 pm Christmas day! He was born at 8lbs 3.9 ounces and 20 inches long. He and Susan did very well and we came home on Monday the 27th. W are all still adjusting to the lack of sleep and frequency of messy diapers but having fun so far. Sophie is being a great big sister and really enjoys holding Evan.

Facepainting

As part of the Breakfast with Santa activities, Sophie also had her face painted with holiday cheer! First was the candy cane on her nose and forehead (her choice of location); she thought that was so great that she went back for a snowman on one cheek and a snowflake on the other. And the Scooby Doo band-aid was there to take care of her sore throat from the week before! Now Check out all the photos at FLICKR!!

Breakfast with Santa 2010

As a fundraiser for the band at the high school next to our house, they have an annual breakfast with Santa every December. We walked (Susan waddled) over this year and had a great morning of festive holiday activity. Sophie was excited about the chocolate chip pancakes and had a big smile for Santa, although that may have also
been because of the candy cane that she knew was coming afterward. Now Check out all the photos at FLICKR!!

Halloween 2010

Sophie decided that she wanted to be a bumble bee for Halloween this year and of course she was the cutest little bee we have ever seen! She enjoyed going from door to door, yelling “trick or treat” and collecting candy, but luckily she was not really that interested in eating much of it- Dave and Susan finished it off in a few days!

Fall Leaf Clean-up

Our two trees certainly seem to generate a lot of leaves in our yard each year! We (Dave) raked them all into a giant pile for Sophie to jump into before we put her to work helping bag them up for the City’s compost pile. And as you can see, Susan is growing by the day as well- Baby Walker #2 is due Dec. 25th!

Durango

Once in Durango, we visited Mesa Verde and dragged Sophie around to all the cliff dwellings and interpretive signs she could take before we had to take an ice-cream break.

We also visited a honey themed gift shop and of course waved the Durango Silverton train off every morning and welcomed it back every night- Sophie became quite the train buff on that trip!

Overall, we had a great time on that trip- biking, swimming and exploring that southwestern corner of Colorado!

Alligator Farm

In August we drove down to Durango for a week and stopped at the alligator farm in Alamosa on the way. Sophie loved throwing the gators bits of food and seeing the snakes slither about in their cages, but was terrified of the friendly free range tortoises that roamed the property.
